Shared Data is the configuration surface inside My Verizon Business where administrators assemble data pools, assign employees, set per-line ceilings, enable rollover, and optionally include international roaming in the pool balance. Where plan pooling explains the mechanics and economics, this module is where the pool is built, edited, and maintained month after month.
Every change in Shared Data takes effect immediately. Pool members see the update on their next Verizon Business Login. Finance sees it in the next expense report. Operations sees it in the usage alert thresholds. Because the module integrates with every other Account Tool, a single administrator can configure an entire mobile workforce's data strategy without calling support.
Open Shared Data Pool Mechanics
Most administrators complete initial pool creation in under fifteen minutes and spend ten minutes per month on maintenance.
From the Shared Data dashboard, click New Pool to launch the setup wizard. Enter a descriptive name — pool names should match how finance thinks about the team (by department, by cost center, or by project). Select the plan tier (only Business Unlimited Plus and Pro support pooling; the Start tier remains per-line). Choose initial members from the company line inventory. Optional: configure per-line ceilings upfront for pools larger than 15 members, and enable rollover if the team's usage historically leaves headroom. Save.
After creation, every setting is editable in the pool details view. Add members via the Add Line button, remove via the member list action menu, move a line to another pool via the Transfer option. Edit per-line ceilings inline and the change takes effect on save. Toggle rollover and international inclusion at the pool level. Every edit logs to the pool history with user, timestamp, and before/after values — a compliance requirement under FCC CPNI for any change affecting customer line configurations.
Each Business Unlimited tier sets the ceiling for what a pool can do. Pro unlocks every option; Plus covers most mid-market teams; Start remains outside the pool architecture.
| Tier | Per-Line Data | Pool Eligible | Rollover Cap | Intl. Inclusion | Hotspot Inclusion | Max Lines |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Business Unlimited Start | Unlimited (throttled after 25 GB) | No | N/A | Per-line only | Limited | Per-line |
| Business Unlimited Plus | 100 GB premium + unlimited | Yes | 20 GB | Optional | 50 GB incl. | 500 / pool |
| Business Unlimited Pro | Unlimited premium | Yes | 50 GB | Optional | Unlimited | 500 / pool |
| Mixed Plus + Pro Pool | Tier-based contribution | Yes | Sum of caps | Optional | Tier-based | 500 / pool |
| Multi-Pool (Enterprise) | Per constituent pool | Yes | Sum of pools | Per pool | Per pool | Unlimited |
| Dept-Split Architecture | Per department | Yes | Per pool | Per department | Per pool | Unlimited |
Rollover and inclusion behavior subject to plan terms. Multi-pool and department-split architectures require administrator approval through the enterprise account team.
The relationship between employee, line, and pool is explicit and easy to change — because real workforces reorganize constantly.
Every line in My Verizon Business is attached to an employee profile via user profiles. When a pool is created, the assigned lines inherit the employee context automatically — so the pool member list shows "Marcus Chen (Sales)" rather than "555-0123." If an employee changes departments, the administrator updates the profile; the pool assignment can stay (if the pool follows people) or change (if the pool follows departments). Both patterns are supported. Multi-pool membership is available for employees who work across departments — the line draws from whichever pool the administrator configures as primary, with fallback to secondary when primary is exhausted.
Reorganizing pools is a standard operation. Select the line to move, click Transfer, pick the destination pool, set the effective date. The source pool's allowance reduces prorated from the effective date; the destination pool's allowance increases prorated. All per-line ceilings from the source pool are dropped; new ceilings from the destination pool apply. The line swap module handles the related case of transferring a line between employees, which can be combined with a pool move in a single operation. Activity logs capture every transfer for audit review.
Three toggles in the pool configuration control what counts against the pool and what rolls forward.
Toggle rollover to carry forward up to 50 GB (Pro) or 20 GB (Plus). Rolled-over GB consume first in the next cycle. Best for teams with seasonal usage variance.
Toggle whether tethered and hotspot data decrements the pool or uses the per-line hotspot allowance. On Pro pools, hotspot is unlimited and the toggle is informational. On Plus pools, the decision matters.
Toggle whether TravelPass and Monthly International data decrement the pool or bill per line. International inclusion simplifies T&E reconciliation for frequent travelers. See international roaming.
Shared Data is not an island. It cross-references every adjacent workflow for line provisioning, alerts, and reporting.
Every shared data pool exposes pool-level alert thresholds in the notification center. Administrators subscribe to pool exhaustion alerts (75/90/100%) separate from per-line alerts. Priority levels route the most critical alerts to SMS and push while less urgent alerts remain email-only. See the usage alerts configuration for the full alert taxonomy.
Pool membership propagates to expense reports automatically. The department rollup includes pool-level aggregates alongside per-line detail. Cost center attribution applies at the line level inside the pool, so a shared pool does not prevent clean GL allocation. Multi-allocation employees (60% Sales / 40% Marketing) contribute their data consumption to the pool but report cost split according to allocation percentages.
Creation, assignment, reallocation, rollover, and international inclusion clarified.
Open Shared Data, click Create Pool, name it, select a plan tier, pick initial members, configure optional ceilings and rollover. Active immediately. See plan pooling for mechanics.
Reallocation is automatic inside a pool. For explicit boundaries, edit per-line ceilings in the member list. Line-to-line pool transfer via the Transfer action.
Yes — up to 50 GB (Pro) or 20 GB (Plus). No stacking. Pool members see rollover balance in their personal dashboard.
Yes, with international inclusion toggle. TravelPass and Monthly International Plan data decrement the pool. See international roaming.
Prorated contribution from effective date. Added via add line. Removed prorated too. History log captures proration math.
